It's that time of year again, when we bundle up with a blanket in front of a fire with hot chocolate while it snows outside.
But these 52 cities have it a bit worse than the rest of us.
Based on average winter temperatures from 1980-2010 compiled by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's National Climactic Data Center,
these cities are in for a chilly reception each year. Get your scarfs ready, and see which cities average below zero:
1. Fairbanks, Alaska Average winter temperature: -4.5 F Laura Marin, NONE
(And for the "absolute zero" of coldest cities: Barrow, Alaska. Average winter temperature -11.7 F Gregory Bull, AP)
37. (tie) Saginaw, Mich. Average winter temperature: 24.5 F JEFF SCHRIER, AP
37. (tie) Flint, Mich. Average winter temperature: 24.5 F RYAN GARZA, AP
Editors Note: The 1980-2010 temperature data averages from the NOAA are the latest available at this time.
