Military Relations: The Department of Defense is the largest employer in Alaska. DOD’s total contribution to Alaska’s economy is $2.5 billion dollars. This economic impact on Alaska helps support hundreds of businesses and jobs. Fairbanks Economic Development Corporation stays actively engaged in BRAC and military housing issues to help insure DOD continues to be a large part of Alaska’s economy.
